Microneedling
in Newport Beach, CA

Microneedling RESURFACING treatments are our specialties at Bonakdar Aesthetics, a state-of-the-art cosmetic dermatology facility that has been offering microneedling treatments since 2012.

As this novel treatment has developed, Dr. Bonakdar has upgraded our devices multiple times. We currently own SkinPen the first FDA approved microneedling device in the USA.

At Bonakdar Aesthetics we offer customized Newport Beach microneedling treatments to address various skin needs and aesthetic goals. SkinPen has a 14-needle tip which can be used for both minimal down time and comprehensive microneedling resurfacing treatments.

What Is Microneedling?

At Bonakdar Aesthetics we choose to use SkinPen Microneedling in Newport Beach. This treatment employs a straightforward three-step process, aimed at kick-starting the skin's innate healing mechanisms. With each session, the skin embarks on a self-renewal journey, becoming increasingly revitalized and refreshed.

As a non-laser skin resurfacing treatment, microneedling can improve the tone and texture of the skin and reduces surface skin imperfections. Microneedling RESURFACING is the aggressive form of this procedure and ideal for those looking for actual laser skin resurfacing with less hassle and cost.

At its core, microneedling is a form of collagen induction therapy (CIT). By creating microscopic wounds in the skin, microneedling triggers the natural healing response in the body, leading to the production of new elastin and collagen. This process can help to improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, scarring, hyperpigmentation, as well as overall skin tone and texture.

How Does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling is a fractional treatment, meaning that a fraction of the skin is treated at a time. The treatment is performed using an automated stamping pen with a tip composed of 14 microneedles to stamp tiny punctures into the skin.

The body responds to micro-injuries from aesthetic procedures much like it does to traumatic injuries and initiates the wound healing cascade. This means improved circulation and oxygenation to the skin, as well as increased production of new collagen and elastin, which builds and nourishes skin tissue.

As with other fractional treatments, the surrounding untreated areas of skin heal the micro-treatment zones rapidly and initiate the production of collagen, elastin, and new skin cells. The most commonly treated areas include the face, neck, and chest, but may also be performed on other areas of the body such as the back or buttocks.

Customized Microneedling Treatments

Each microneedling treatment is customized based on your skin health and treatment goals at Bonakdar Aesthetics.

Microneedling stamping action produces micro-channels in the skin that allow absorption of topically applied active products to the deep layers of the skin. Topicals selected include Antiaging booster for color, texture and hydration improvements, Exosomes for increased healing and collagen stimulation, and chemical peels for enhanced peeling and rejuvenation.

Microneedling With Exosomes

Exosomes are tiny messenger cells containing potent growth factors, amino acids, peptides, RNA, and anti-inflammatories. Exosomes are added to microneedling to significantly reduce downtime, relieve skin irritation, and improve results. Adding exosomes improves your microneedling treatments due to the perfect blend of hyaluronic acid, minerals, coenzymes, growth factors and peptides.

Recovery for Microneedling

Microneedling isn't an invasive skin treatment, so the recovery process is typically very short. Most people experience some redness and swelling 24-48 hours after the treatment, but this usually subsides within a few hours. You may also experience some mild bruising, but this should resolve itself within a few days.

It’s important to avoid wearing makeup or using skincare products for at least 24 hours after treatment, as this can increase the risk of infection. After that, you can resume your normal skincare routine, but be sure to use gentle, non-abrasive products.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is no set downtime for microneedling, but most people prefer to take it easy for a day or two after treatment. This means avoiding strenuous exercise, hot showers, and exposing your skin to direct sunlight.

You should also avoid using any products that contain retinol or other exfoliating ingredients, as this can irritate the skin. If you have any questions about what skincare products to use after treatment, be sure to ask your aesthetician or skincare professional.

Results for Microneedling

Results from microneedling can take a few weeks to become visible and will continue to improve over the course of several months. Most people need a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart to see optimal results.

Microneedling FAQs

No. we start every microneedling session with an application of topical anesthetic to the skin for 30 minutes. At Bonakdar Aesthetics, we aim to deliver the most comfortable microneedling Newport Beach has to offer.

A typical RESURFACING treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

Microneedling results aren't permanent. However, you can keep up on the results by having maintenance treatments every few months.

Microneedling RESURFACING treatments are recommended every two to four weeks.

There is no simple answer to this question. Both microneedling and Botox can be effective treatments for wrinkles, fine lines, and other skin concerns. However, the best way to determine which treatment is right for you is to book a consultation with a qualified aesthetician or skincare professional.

While outcomes vary depending on the treatment level and customization, results are visible as soon as the skin heals and continues for the next three to six months.

At best, home dermarollers are ineffective, and at worst, they are unsafe. In a professional microneedling device, the needles are used once and then discarded. But home dermarollers are used repeatedly, increasing the risk of skin infection and irritation.

Because of the way they are constructed, these devices cannot be cleaned properly and may begin to harbor viruses, fungi, and bacteria which are then introduced into the skin with the next use.

Dermaroller needles also get dull and therefore instead of resulting in superficial micro-treatment zones, they may cause deep injury and even scarring.

Dr. Bonakdar recommends you throw away home dermarollers and come into Bonakdar Aesthetics for a top-quality, professional microneedling treatment that will leave your skin looking fresh and renewed.

Microneedling facials cost will vary depending on the provider, the number of treatments, and other factors. However, you can expect to pay anywhere from $450 to $700 per session, depending on where you go and what you need done.

Both treatments are very comfortable for the patient and produce significant improvement in the health and appearance of the skin. Both treatments work in the same manner, except that Vivace combines a radiofrequency component with microneedling which surprisingly lessens the treatment downtime but improves the treatment results.

This slight difference results in less downtime and better treatment results with Vivace. If you choose to combine Vivace with PRP treatments, the skin will be pink to red immediately post-treatment. There is no downtime.

You may experience some mild peeling or flaking of the skin after microneedling, but this is usually only temporary. If you have any concerns, be sure to ask your aesthetician or skincare professional.
