Sun exposure activates collagen destroying enzymes in the skin that remain active for up to 48 hours after the original sun exposure. With time, these repetitive damages cause collagen loss, thinning Crepe skin, formation of fine lines and pigmentation. The discrepancy between the skin of the face and the rest of the body is a telltale sign of aging and is quite noticeable and odd.
I like to include rejuvenation of the neck, chest and hand in my treatment plans for a more blended and harmonious look. My recommendations vary based on the type and severity of the skin changes. One of the most common changes seen is pigmentation and skin roughness. Color issues responds well to even one IPL or Fraxel, while texture issues usually require a series of MonBon Permea or ResurFX treatments.

The next commonly seen change is thinning and sagging of the skin which lead to formation of lines on the chest and neck. Many of my patients opt for Ultherapy of the neck and chest for lifting and smoothing because it is has no downtime and results in gradual improvement.

Injectables such as Botox Cosmetic is used for necklace lines and neck cords, while Sculptra collagen stimulator is used to thicken the skin of the chest improving its texture.
