Nd:YAG & VascuPulse
in Newport Beach, CA

Bonakdar Aesthetics is proud to offer Intense Pulsed Light/ (IPL), VascuPulse, and ND-Yag treatments personally performed by Dr. Monica Bonakdar, a trusted and renowned board-certified laser surgeon.

what do intense pulsed light (ipl), vascupulse, and ND:YAG treat?

These procedures correct uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation, restoring clear, smooth luminous skin. Nd:YAG and VascuPulse treat red discoloration, rosacea, and broken capillaries. Intense Pulse Light or IPL is a non-invasive color correction treatment that treats areas of brown discoloration on the skin.

How do IPL, Nd:YAG, and VascuPulse work?

The IPL device delivers intense pulse light energy directly to the target area, where it is absorbed by the abnormally pigmented cells, which then travel to the surface faster than normally pigmented cells.

Pigmented lesions appear darker as they rise to the skin’s surface appearing as peppery dust on the skin, and sloughing off with washings. Over time, thanks to the triggering of increased collagen production, the skin surface gradually becomes more translucent and even in color. ND-Yag and VascuPulse energy coagulate and collapse capillaries, resulting in their disappearance.

How Long Does a Treatment Take?

Nd:YAG and VascuPulse treat red discoloration, rosacea, and broken capillaries. How Long has IPL Been Available?

Dr. Bonakdar’s goal is to make your treatment as comfortable as possible. You will be in the office for about 60 minutes.: 15 minutes of preparation, 30 minutes numbing, and 15 minutes for the actual treatment.

Nd:YAG and VascuPulse RESURFACING FAQ

IPL may be used anywhere on the entire body surface, however, the most popular areas are the face, neck, chest, forearms, arms, and hands and legs. Nd:YAG and VascuPulse effectively treat superficial broken capillaries and veins on the face, chest, and legs.

Most patients typically achieve their aesthetic goal in 3 to 6 treatments.

IPL, VascuPulse, and Nd:YAG are not recommended for patients who are pregnant or those who have used Accutane within the last six months. Individuals with dark skin colors are better candidates for alternative treatments such as microneedling or Vivace.

Generally, downtime with IPL treatment is minimal and involves the darkening of the brown spots that come to surface and slough off. For treatments of the face, this process takes about 5 days and can be camouflaged with makeup, whereas treatments of body areas take about 14 days to fully heal. ND-YAG treatment for leg veins may take up to 8 weeks to heal completely.

Dr. Bonakdar recommends that you avoid sun exposure completely during the week prior to your treatment, and stop all active skincare, including all Retinol and Retin-A products two days prior.

Our staff will take photos prior to each treatment so that you may appreciate yours before and after images. Next, we will apply a numbing agent for 30 minutes. A Zimmer air cooler is used to maximize your comfort during all treatments.

During the active treatment phase, while you are attempting to treat a particular problem such as sun damage or rosacea, you will require treatment sessions every 3 to 4 weeks. Once you enter the maintenance phase of your treatment, you may choose to have followed up treatment sessions every 3 to 12 months.

Brown discoloration gets darker during the initial week following treatment and sloughs off like peppery dust as you wash the skin. Ice packs may be applied for swelling or if the skin feels similar to a sunburn. Anyone with a history of cold sores must take antiviral prophylaxis to protect against an outbreak. You may apply make-up on the same day after your treatment.

Some treatments may be performed on the same day as IPL, VascuPulse, and Nd:YAG. For example, you may receive Botox Cosmetic and other dermal fillers on the same day after IPL, VascuPulse, or ND-Yag.

IPL treatments are compatible with most other cosmetic procedures, such as soft tissue fillers, and Botox. Synergistic results may be achieved by combining IPL with Microneedling, Vivace, Ultherapy, Fraxel, UltraPulse FX, and other treatments.
